The William and Son – Tri Colour Bridge Gift Set has everything you need for a good game of rubber bridge. The set contains a twin pack of regular-size bridge cards, 4 full length gold pencils and an elegant Rubber bridge score pad with William and Son branding subtly foiled on the front. The gift set comes beautifully packaged in one of our handmade drop-lid presentation boxes.

We call the bridge set ‘Mini’ because it contains just one pad of score cards. Having just one pad, the box is quite compact which is easy to store and doesn’t take up much room. This elegant set has two packs of William and Son quality 330gsm playing cards, with attractive 3 colour design backs. These excellent cards have great slip, snap and handling. We produced a beautiful range of twin packs, score pads, pencils for the luxury London store owned by William Asprey and his son: William and Son. The playing cards are heavenly, made from the very best Premium Quality board stock that our own brand cards use. Finished with a luxury varnish for the very best slip and handing. We have surplus stock of all the items we supplied to William and Son. This because their store has sadly closed. As we made their products for them we were granted the right to sell the stock so we’re offering this beautiful range at knocked-down prices.

Packaging

We have surplus stock of the William and Son playing cards and scorepads, but not of the William and Son presentation boxes we supplied to the store, so this gift set is packaged in a Simon Lucas Bridge Supplies presentation box.

Rubber Bridge

Rubber bridge is played by two competing pairs of players. Three games of bridge are played and a rubber is a ‘best-of-three’ competition. Play proceeds until one pair wins 100 or more points to win that game. There is a horizontal line dividing the Rubber Bridge Score Cards which is used when scoring. The winning bid’s value (tricks that are bid and made) is scored below the line. Bonus points such as overtricks are scored above the line.

The winning pair is generally the first pair to win two games. On our Rubber Bridge Score Cards, all three games that make up a rubber are scored on one side of the score cards. This means you get a whopping 100 rubbers/300 games from just one pad!

While the basic elements of scoring are similar to Chicago or ‘four-deal’ bridge, their method of accumulation and recording differ slightly, and honours do score. We include scoring tables for both Rubber and Chicago bridge in our Contract Indicator and Scoring Aid.
