Penhallow’s Bridge Cloth – Fisherman’s Cottage
The Penhallow’s Bridge Cloth – Fisherman’s Cottage is a beautiful, evocative colourway in this exclusive range of luxury gaming cloths. Being inspired by the colours of Cornwall, we combined three vibrant hues to create an exquisite cloth that will transport you to the coast each time you play. At 108cm (3ft 6”) square the Penhallow’s Bridge Cloth – Fisherman’s Cottage is the largest baize cloth that we make and is done so to the very highest standard. We use 100% British-made fabric and trimmings with the Merino wool being 95% pure. Each fabulous new cloth comes in a special handmade presentation box, which will protect it for years to come.
About the Penhallow’s Bridge Cloth Range
The Penhallow’s Range is a beautiful, modern collection of luxury baize gaming cloths. Baize is traditionally used for cardplay because of the optimum friction it provides. For the Penhallow’s cloths, we’ve used extra special British baize that’s 95% Merino wool, and every cloth is handmade to order in our workshop in the heart of the English countryside. Inspired by the light and colours of Cornwall, we’ve paired ribbons and velvets to shimmer and reflect the light. Generously sized at 108cm square.
The Merino wool baize that we use for the Penhallow’s Bridge Cloths is regarded for its lustrous quality and sheen, draping beautifully, and perfect for accenting the curves and folds of a bridge table. Our stunning colour palette of cloths ensures the perfect cloth for every interior; from modern minimalist with striking colour statement pieces to havens of chic relaxation.
Baize, Not Felt
There is a lot of confusion about the difference between baize and felt. This isn’t surprising when you search online and find many suppliers describing felt as baize, or a fabric as ‘baize felt’ or ‘felt baize’. It’s important to know whether you’re buying baize or felt, because the two fabrics are very different.
Felt is a lightweight fabric made from matted fibres of either wool or a synthetic. Being matted rather than held together in a tight weave, the fibres easily fluff up or ‘pill’ if rubbed. On the other hand, baize is a strong, dense and hard-wearing fabric made from woven strands of wool. If it’s top-quality, such as the fabric we use to make our Baize Bridge Cloths, it doesn’t pill and it will look great and last for many years. There really is no comparison between felt and the far superior baize. You can purchase a Baize Bridge Cloth from us with complete assurance that you are buying a top-quality item.
