About the Artist Christine De Carvalho

Christine De Carvalho is an illustrator, designer, and author based in Los Angeles, California. Her work celebrates folklore, botanicals and creatures with a dash of the macabre. Much of her work is inspired by her love of folk art, fairytales, and vintage children’s books. Animals and nature are some of her favorite subjects to illustrate.
Christine studied Textile design at The Academy of Art in San Francisco, as well as the Studio Berçot in Paris, France. Christine landed her first job as an in-house Textile Designer for John Galliano and later Christian Lacroix. She spent 6 years in Paris developing textile prints for Haute Couture houses. After relocating back to the states, Christine focused on her love of painting and illustration and began licensing her work to major companies. She loves vintage dresses, cats, and living on the west coast.
